Terms of Service

Last updated: 31 October 2026

1. About the platform

The Belmont Forum Members Platform (members.belmontforum.org) is a private online space operated by the Belmont Forum Secretariat. It allows representatives of Belmont Forum member organizations and the Secretariat to connect, exchange ideas and access information and documents shared exclusively with the Belmont Forum membership.

By signing in and using the platform you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Who can use it

• Access is by invitation only. Accounts are created by the Belmont Forum Secretariat for people who represent a Belmont Forum member organization, and for Secretariat staff.
• Your account is personal. You may not share it, transfer it or let anyone else use it.
• The Secretariat may update, suspend or close an account, for example when a person no longer represents a member organization.

3. Keeping your account secure

• Two-factor authentication is required for every account. Keep your authenticator app and backup codes safe.
• Choose a strong password that you do not use on other services, and do not share your password or verification codes with anyone.
• If you think your account has been accessed by someone else, tell the Secretariat straight away.

4. Confidential information

Documents, discussions and other content on the platform are shared with the Belmont Forum membership only. Unless the Secretariat or the author has indicated that something may be shared publicly:

• use it only for Belmont Forum-related work within your organization;
• do not publish it or pass it on outside your organization;
• respect any additional restrictions stated on a document.

5. What you post

• You are responsible for the content you post, including updates, comments, messages, discussions and files.
• Only share content you have the right to share, and do not post confidential information belonging to third parties without permission.
• By posting content you allow other platform users to view it, and the Secretariat to display and store it in order to run the platform.

6. Community standards

Treat other members with respect. Do not post content that is unlawful, abusive, discriminatory, misleading or commercial spam, and do not try to access areas or data you are not authorized to see. The Secretariat may remove content or restrict access when these standards are not respected.

7. Your data

• The platform stores the information in your profile (name, nationality and organization, plus any optional details you add), your activity on the platform and the files you upload.
• Your profile is visible to other signed-in members. Optional fields such as date of birth and phone number are visible only to administrators unless you choose otherwise.
• Emails from the platform (invitations, verification codes and notifications) are sent through the Belmont Forum’s Google Workspace. You can change your notification preferences in your account settings.
• If you choose to view the platform in a language other than English, the text of the page you are viewing is sent to Google Translate to produce the translation.
• To ask for a copy, correction or deletion of your data, contact the Secretariat.

8. Availability and changes

The Secretariat aims to keep the platform available and secure but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. These terms may be updated; the date at the top of this page shows the latest version, and significant changes will be announced on the platform.

9. Contact

Questions about these terms or the platform: contact the Belmont Forum Secretariat or use the Platform Help & Feedback discussion.
